Philly Market Manager

Hungry Harvest is the nation’s leading brand fighting food waste and hunger by delivering rescued produce. We believe that no produce should go to waste and no person should go hungry. We’ve grown exponentially ever since our founding in 2014 to recover over 5 million pounds of produce.

As Philly Market Manager, you will be responsible for growing Hungry Harvest in the greater Philly area and report to the Director of Markets. We’re looking for a leader to champion Hungry Harvest. You be will be responsible for the following:

  • Growing the number of subscribers and revenue in the greater Philadelphia region
  • Making strategic decisions for Hungry Harvest in the Market
  • Partnering with leading local brands & organizations
  • Building relationships with and leveraging local media
  • Managing and growing our brand ambassador team
  • Expanding the market’s geographic coverage
  • Identifying and attending local events
  • Ensure positive customer experiences with the brand
  • Support success of local logistics team

DMV Market Manager

Lead Receiver

Hungry Harvest is on a mission to end food waste and fight hunger. We do this by packaging variety boxes of fruits and vegetables, that would have otherwise gone to waste due to imperfections and delivering them to subscriber's homes for 20-40% cheaper than grocery store prices. Our lead receiver will be responsible for carefully unloading and inspecting incoming deliveries of fresh produce. 

Job requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail; Quality Assurance experience a plus 
  • Performs inspections on incoming products while maintaining thorough documentation 
  • Responds to all incoming deliveries 
  • Ability to work evenings and overtime as needed 
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated rooms and outdoor environments 
  • Willingness to learn and to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently to complete critical tasks 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while working, and to crouch or kneel as required by the type of work being completed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 3 years warehouse experience required
  • Experience with pallet jacks and other equipment

As office administrator, you will help us better accomplish our mission by successfully handling a critical role that spans accounts payable, accounts receivable, HR administration and office management.  

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable

  • Ensure that all clients are billed in a timely manner
  • Ensure on-time bill payment through tracking, follow-up and process development
  • Ensure that checks are deposited in a timely manner

Accounts Payable

  • Record and maintain vendor contact info
  • Initial clean and ongoing maintenance of PO system
  • Ensure that all invoices are paid and reconciled
  • Process and send checks on a weekly basis to vendors
  • Create and send weekly PO’s to Co-Packers

HR Administrator

  • Manage paperwork, hospitality and swag associated with on-boarding new employees across all our markets
  • Maintain up-to-date employee forms
  • Track sick time, personal time and vacation for all departments as well as reimbursement
  • Maintain payroll records and prepare for processing biweekly

Office Manager

  • Setup and arrange hospitality for office meetings
  • Maintain necessary inventory of office supplies and manage budget
  • Order and manage cleaning service for all locations
  • Book travel for team members, business partners and prospective candidates
  • Receive mail and distribute to recipients
  • Assist with office moves, layouts, etc.

Produce Packers PT/FT

Job Description
On our assembly line, we pack fresh fruits and vegetables into variety boxes. The sorting, grading and packing of produce does require a lot of handwork and some lifting.

Responsibilities
Efficiently sort and pack product following established packing procedures.
Meet customer required quality standards for finished product.
Adhere to all work safety and food safety policies, standards and procedures.

Rotating Work Schedule & Pay
Wednesday - Sunday, Part Time: 20-30hrs per week , Full Time: 40 hrs per week
Hourly pay rate is $10 per hour.

Required Skills
Must be able to work comfortably in a cool environment
Must be able to work while standing.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs repetitively.
Must be able to work collaboratively.
Must be reliable and have acceptable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Forklift Operator

Job Requirements
• Picking raw materials for the next day’s production
• Rotating stock (First-in, First-out) in the coolers
• Keeping pallets organized, and re-stacking cases as necessary for safety & logistics
• Conform to all safety protocols when driving and operating warehouse equipment
• Keep forklift in good condition by following manufacturer’s maintenance schedule
• Use care when manually lifting heavy items
• Report to Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager for special assignments for the day
• Notify management of any issues with incoming materials while unloading trailers
• Keep warehouse neat and clean, including sweeping and organizing inventory to maximize space
• Follow all company GMP guidelines (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Packing customer orders on the production line as needed
• Perform other duties in the production area as requested by management

Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two (2) years forklift experience
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to work independently and assist in other departments

30-40 hours per week, Wednesday-Sunday

Controller

Hungry Harvest is a produce delivery service on a mission to fight food waste and hunger. We work with suppliers to procure surplus produce and distribute to our customers via weekly subscription boxes, on average 20% less than grocery.

We’re a rapidly expanding startup. In 3 years we’ve grown from one route of deliveries to delivering in Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia, Baltimore, Frederick, Philadelphia, South Florida, and soon Raleigh, NC. We’ve recovered over 4,000,000lbs of food from going uneaten and donated/sold 600,000lbs of produce to underserved communities.

The Controller will be a financial decision maker in Hungry Harvest. This position will report directly to the CEO, and will participate in strategic decisions surrounding the company’s operations and growth. The Controller will have hands on accounting & reporting systems, financial management, strategic decision making, industry analysis, and budgeting & forecasting. We’re seeking a financial leader who can help us achieve our vision of expansion across the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial planning and analysis to provide strategic decision support to company leadership and departments
  • Budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and analysis

  • Performance measurement against financial and metric-driven goals

  • Creation and management of financial reporting systems

  • Management of financial statements including P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, and more

  • Management of legal documents, such as employee equity plans, business licenses, insurance, and state/federal compliance documents

  • Assessment of capital needs and support of fundraising and other finance needs

  • Industry research and analysis

Qualifications:

  1. 5-7 years experience in corporate financial planning and analysis, and strategic guidance
  2. Food, retail, consumer goods, or B2C experience preferred

  3. CPA preferred
