Where to Store
How Long to Store
As apples ripen, they produce ethylene. This gas makes all nearby produce ripen even faster. Keep ‘em to themselves to keep all your produce on its natural ripening schedule.
One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. Bruised, overripe apples produce even more ethylene than normal. Use ‘em up before they push other apples over the edge!
Keep apples whole until just before you eat ‘em. As soon as you cut an apple, oxidation begins, turning the flesh brown and shortening shelf life.
